Titirangi Urban Sanctuary

Our Vision:

To create an urban sanctuary in Titirangi.

A place where people, native birds, plants and species thrive.

TUS is an environmental project run by neighbours for neighbours.

Our People

TUS is run by a group of volunteers organised through our committee or HUB.

At Hub meetings we share updates and review our progress and plan for the future.

We have a part time coordinator, Kate, who oversees everything and keeps us all on track!

We are supported by a large group of local volunteers and backyard trappers.

TUS Co-Chairs  Clair Hobi, Bruce Inwood

Our focus area

Our group is based in Titirangi, Auckland and our work is primarily focused in the South Titirangi Peninsula. The Peninsula has a natural boundary with the Manukau harbour and this provides an ideal setting for our Predator Control work. The landscape is of regenerating forest, with many kauri and other large native trees evident. This part of Titirangi is graced by lovely cove beaches and sweeping views across to the Waitākere Ranges and out through to the Manukau Harbour

Streets in our area include: Arapito Rd, Arama Road, Grendon Road, Herrings Cove Place, Inaka Place, Lancewood Place, Mahoe Road, McEldowney Road, Okewa Rd, Opou Road, Otitori Bay Road, Park Road, McEldowney Road, Paturoa Road, Rangiwai Road, South Titirangi Rd, Takahe Road, Tanekaha Road, Tinopai Road, Titirangi Beach Road, Valley Road, Wood Bay Road, Woontons Lane.

Live outside our boundary? There are local environmental groups operating right through the Waitākere Ranges. Go to the Pest Free Waitākere Ranges Alliance website to find your closest group https://pfwra.org.nz/

Te Kawarau ā Maki

We acknowledge Te Kawerau ā Maki as the manawhenua and kaitiaki of South Titirangi and the Waitākere ranges. They value our work and we update them on our progress on a regular basis.
