Proposed Roll-out Stage 3 - Year 3
We are hoping to expand our Predator Zone again.
Our aim is to add a gigantic 220 extra properties into our area under intensive Predator Control.
Before we begin, we always inform residents and talk to them about our plans.
We look forward to hearing your feedback.
Here’s our plan…
Early August. We will write to all affected households notifying them of the planned extension. Look out for a letter in your letter box!
August 9-17th. This will be followed up with door knocking in the area to canvas support and answer any questions from residents - we need volunteers to help with door knocking.
Late August. If there is good community support, we will confirm the extension and draw up our plan for placing bait and traps. (Typically we have amazing support from residents - our last zone residents showed 95% support for the project).
September. All going well we will undertake final consultation and sign-offs with property owners regarding placement of bait stations and traps. Not all properties will have stations - we place them strategically and with care.
September. We will place bait stations and traps. Bait stations and monitoring tunnels need to be placed in situ 6 weeks before they are first deployed. This gives predators time to get used to seeing them in the environment and reduces their natural hesitancy. Rat traps and bait stations are locked, tamper proof and pet safe - we need volunteers to assist with placing the stations.
November. First pulsing in the new area will occur on or around 1 November. For more info on pulsing follow this link on the website. https://tus.nz/pulse
Late November - early December, begin assessment and monitoring.
Want to know if your street is in this next section of our rollout? The streets are as follows: Paturoa Road, Woontons Lane, McEldowney Road, Tinopai Road, Grendon Road, Landing Road, the section of South Titirangi Road up to Grendon Road.

New processes around bait distribution for Baiting Stations and Trapline Volunteers
In keeping with our commitment to excellence in Health and Safety practices, those of you using bait in your bait stations at home, or volunteering on bait and traplines, please note the following important information.
A new process has been established for Ditrac, the bait we use during pulses. From now on, bait will be distributed and kept in sealable buckets with the original label on. Any recipients will receive a short safety briefing. This is to ensure that we are all using bait safely, protecting our people, non target animals and the environment.
Thank you!
Neighbourhood Wasp Eradication.
We are looking to put together a team of people to spearhead training and distribution of wasp bait in our area, with the aim to drive wasp numbers down next summer.
If you are keen to be part of this new work please message southtitiranginn@gmail.com subject line ‘Wasp Volunteering’
